In this post I will highlight all of the animated movies that feature Batman, including solo stories, team-up tales, and exciting ensembles. This post will provide a guide to all animated Batman features, then delve into all of the individual subcategories.
In 2007, Warner Bros. kick-started a commercially successfulrun of direct-to-video movies under the banner heading DC Universe AnimatedOriginal Movies. A large number of these films have included Batman, either asthe lead character or as part of an ensemble.
So, those are all of the Batman animated movies, broken down into easily digestible subcategories. You can either watch all ofthe movies (using the list at the beginning of this post) or you can pick andchoose as you see fit.
Most of the DC animated movies are stand alone, with no plot related connection between them. The only connection is the common background of the comics they come from from. Most of them are retellings of one-shot stories or specific arcs of the comic titles. For example, Justice League: Doom is based on JLA #43-46 (2002), the arc titled Tower of Babel. The amazing Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is retelling the entire Flashpoint crossover event from 2011 that set up the New 52 DC comic Universe.
This article is going to be a chronological list of all the animated movies featuring the Justice League, but with a twist. Namely, the only series of Justice League movies that actually has a chronology is the DC Animated Movie Universe (DCAMU). The DC Animated Universe (DCAU) had only one Justice League movie, while the remaining Justice League movies were standalone and out of continuity.
As we have said in the introduction, there are numerous Justice League animated movies, but most of them are either standalone, or are not part of any larger narrative continuity. That is why it is impossible to determine a proper chronological order for each and every one of these movies, but we can list them so that you see their total number.
The list is going to contain all the Justice League animated movies ordered by release date, with the bolded ones being those that form part of the DCAMU narrative continuity. (Note: The movies on the list are going to be only those focusing on the Justice League, not the ones where the Justice League only makes an appearance). They are:
The chronology of the new animated films of DC cómics, is one of the wonders of this decade, where we will find a new aspect of the league of justice, the way in which they are known and the origin of emblematic heroes and stories that are worth watching.
First of all, to begin to see this chronology, you have to see the animated film of flash, the paradox of time, which would be like the reboot of the universe, an easy example is something similar to what they did with the X-men movies, this film is about the events that occurred when flash travels to the past to save his mother from being killed, and when he returns to the future he finds a world very different from the one he knew, where a war is running and the few heroes there are they are not appreciated, and where the origin of Batman is different, after this there were changes in the history, and in the timelines, DC took advantage to create a new chronology of the comics of the new # 52, that's where it starts.
Soon will be released the next of this chronology, which is the death of Superman, as the name says we will see the death of Superman, a Doomsday more powerful than ever, from this film is expected many things, since we will see almost the entire universe united again. the chronology of this universe is put in the order in which it was written, we note that the only one that has independent films is Batman, in spite of being only of him, these events happen in the same universe, all caused after the paradox of the time and the distortion that The Flash causes in the realities, it is expected that in the universe in which flash is now an outcome since many loose ends were left, the best way to see this movies is the way they are described , and thus you will be able to understand all the explicit that this new universe gives us.
Tales of Asgard is the second Marvel animated movie to feature younger versions of the heroes we know and love. This time around, viewers are treated to a tale of the teenage Thor, hungry to prove himself as a worthy warrior of Asgard. Teaming up with Loki and The Warriors Three on a quest to find the Sword of Surtur in Yodenheim, our arrogant hero finds himself in situations that try his morals along with his strength. Set before the first Thor film, Tales of Asgard will delight viewers who wish the films had more mythology and fewer space battles.
Each Avenger could easily star in his or her own anime, but Black Widow, in particular, seems designed for the medium. Striking a significantly grittier tone than the other Marvel animated titles, Avengers Confidential sees the assassin meet the vigilante the Punisher to stop an evil plot from the group Leviathan. Longtime fans of the genre will be interested to know that legendary anime director Kenichi Shimizu of Parasyte and Roujin Z fame directed the film. If you like your spy movies over the top and violent, this is dark as it gets in the Marvel world.
This is because the DCEU, or DC movies, has only 10 films and a non-canon release. And, the Warner Bros. franchise has mostly followed a chronological order of storytelling over the years since the release of the first film in the franchise, Man of Steel (2013).
It is also noteworthy that two films, starring DC Comics characters that were released after 2013, are not part of the franchise. These are the critically acclaimed Joker (2019) and Robert Pattinson-starrer The Batman (2022).
DCEU films have been far less successful commercially when compared to MCU, which not only vastly surpasses the former in terms of the number of films and shows but is also the most successful franchise of all time having made over USD 25 billion worldwide at the box office so far.
The outstanding success of Wonder Woman guaranteed that a sequel to the story of Diana Prince would be among the most-awaited films of 2020. However, expectations certainly differed from reality, at least in the eyes of critics who gave the film a thumbs down.
As far as its placing in the chronology of the franchise, the film does not show any connection to other films of the series, but a brief appearance of Superman suggests it is set after the events involving the Man of Steel.
The Tomorrowverse is the newest shared universe centering around superheroes from DC comics. The films contained in the Tomorrowverse are produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation and released by Warner Home Video. It is the direct successor of the DC Animated Movie Universe, which ended officially in 2020 (with an epilogue released in 2022). Here are all six Tomorrowverse moves in chronological order:
But, for the moment, we've got everything you need to watch the DC movies in order right here. We start with Man of Steel and go all the way up to Black Adam, so you can see all the films released so far in the correct order. We've even got the movies set outside the DCEU like The Batman and the non-canon Zack Snyder's Justice League, too. So, to get caught up on the DC universe, look no further than our ultimate guide below.

This year, fans will get to see the first stand-alone film for Flash and Black Adam, and a sequel for Aquaman. THE FLASH is scheduled to release November 4th and we will get to geek out when Ezra Miller's version of the Flash unites with return of the first big screen adaptation of the Caped Crusader, Michael Keaton. Dwayne Johnson joins the DCEU as the anti-hero BLACK ADAM, and fans are excited to see the Hollywood A-Lister will bring to the DCEU this summer. Wrapping up 2022, Jason Mamoa will reprise his role as King of the Seven Seas in AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM. Since these three films are connected with existing films, we thought we would share our preferred viewing order of the DCEU. 2b1af7f3a8
